The most exciting thing happening in gaming right now isn’t just the next hardware cycle or blockbuster release — it’s the communities shaping the industry’s future from the inside. Women in gaming are driving change: in the stories being told, in the audiences being reached, and in the business strategies that will define the next decade.

That’s why AGM Gaming Futures: Women in Gaming has become one of our most successful event series. On 2 October 2025 in Central London, we brought together women from across the industry again — not just to celebrate, but to connect, to share, and to make sure their voices remain at the heart of where gaming goes next.

The Numbers Tell the Story

The data is clear: women are still underrepresented. The latest Ukie Diversity Census shows that only 30% of UK games industry professionals identify as women, compared to 67% men. Globally, the figure drops to around 23% according to GDC and Women in Games. At senior and technical levels, the gap widens further.

This isn’t just a representation issue — it’s a growth issue. Diverse teams make better games, reach wider audiences, and keep players engaged longer. Losing women from the industry means losing creativity, innovation, and cultural relevance.

Why Women in Gaming Matters

Every lunch we’ve hosted has proven the same thing: women want and need these networks. Too many are still “the only one” in their studio, department, or leadership team. These events create space for connection, mentorship, and collective strength.

But it’s more than community. Women consistently surface the trends studios can’t afford to ignore — whether it’s safer online play, new genres gaining traction, or the demand for more nuanced, inclusive storytelling.

At a time when diversity initiatives are under pressure, the industry has a choice. It can roll back progress and risk irrelevance, or it can double down on inclusion and unlock new growth.

AGM Gaming Futures – Women in Gaming is part of that roadmap. It’s proof that when you create spaces for women to thrive, the whole industry benefits.
