In advance of the touring show’s opening in Detroit, we created multiple consumer promotions to engage the community that created the Motown sound.
Partnered with the Motown Museum to host open call auditions for the tour at Hitsville U.S.A. with celebrity guest judges Otis Williams (founding member of The Temptations) and CBS’ Gayle King.
Auditions were covered nationally by CBS This Morning and promoted via local press and social outreach delivering 200+ participants from the Detroit area and beyond.
120 area high school students participated in a local contest, with 3 bands and choirs winning the opportunity to perform at the show’s red carpet opening.
The promotion was covered by 4 major TV stations, as well as other print and online outlets and social media influencers.
